Failing Math

I've never been good at numbers.

6.
There are 6 days until I can feel my fingers again.
6 days until warm hugs and forever jokes about my hair.

5.
Five months of painted everything, of twisting grandma's ring, of bleeding lips.
I'm not sure my lips can handle being chewed to pieces anymore.

4.
A perfect square with everything lining up, even, normal.
I don't think I will ever be a 4, but it's okay I never thought I'd turn out that way anyways.

3.
Three times later and I'm still in a maze, and I'm sorry if that makes you mad.
If it helps, I wish things could have gone differently too.

2.
The years it should've taken you to say the apology I still haven't heard.
Two cracks. That's all it took to demolish my heart, but don't worry I'm learning why it's called a rib cage.

1.
One quick movement and my world was flipped upside down  ˙sɹɐʇs ɟo pɐǝʇsuı ʇɐ ʞool oʇ ʇǝdɹɐɔ ǝɥʇ ʇnq ƃuıɥʇou ɥʇıʍ

Adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, anything.
Nothing sticks.

2 Happy Thoughts:

  1. So good. Honestly, I could read your writing all day. "With nothing but the carpet to look at instead of stars." *snaps*
