For all you scaredy cats:

NOTE: I wish so badly I could
read this out loud to you.

If you grow up the kind of person that's afraid of the dark, you can keep the hall light on.
You can sing yourself lullaby songs and think happy thoughts.
But do not mistake darkness as the cold lonely nights, because there is also beauty in her silences.

If you are the kind of person that runs away from insects,
You can get someone else to do the dirty work and flush it down the toilet.
But do not run away from the small things in life. You are not weak, you are not dependent on others for everything.
Let them see your courage in crowds, or in solo acts, show them that this is what you were meant to do,

this is what I was meant to do.

If you grow up to be the kind of person with a target on your back,
Let them try their hardest.
Sometimes it is not you they are aiming for, sometimes it is a way to release the anger, the pain, sometimes it is their only exit.
But somehow the target have landed on you.
Do not mistake yourself as a victim or an outcast, or the helpless, the hopeless.

You are a warrior.

A warrior.

You are made of blood and veins, bricks and cement, you are made of a heartbeat.
Not duct taped bones or super glued scars, the bandages that cover most of your body do not make you weak, they show your strength. Because you got back up when the first one hit. And the second one. And the third. And the eleventh one.

If you grow up the kind of person that is afraid of dying.
You can hide under your covers all day, you can live off of the excitement of making it up and down your stairs in one piece.

We spend every waking minute deciding our next course of action. Calculating all the possible outcomes until we are satisfied with our choice.
Letting the mechanical side of us control our every move. Playing dress up in human skin trying to fit in.

Only some people will know what it feels like to turn that switch off. Admit they didn't know what they were doing from the beginning.
Only some people will want to stay up late with you to find the answers.

You are not the answer.
You won't find the answers.
This isn't your intro.
This is the last chapter, with only an epilogue to finish it up.

You can grow up to be the kind of person that follows their dream.
You see following your dream and day dreaming are two completely different things.
When you follow your dream it isn't pulling your parachute cord, it's deciding to take that jump out of the plane. It's the adrenaline, the type writer with no back space, the head rush you get after standing up too fast. It is realizing you have lungs.

Do not spend your time wondering if you are the kind of person that will always fall. If you land on your knees it's okay, I've got my fair share of bruises too.
And if someone put you there on the ground, pick some flowers to give to them while you're down there.
Because it's hard to stop loving someone. And it's harder to watch them heal quicker than you.
So forgive yourself for the wrongs you have done.
The ones that left more scars than kisses. The ones you hide under your bed from the moon.

And know that you are the kind of person that is enough.
Know that no matter where you go it's where you are suppose to be.
Because you weren't made to feel like this.
You were made to get wrinkles on the corners of your eyes for all the people you've impacted.

You are the kind of person that isn't afraid.

2 Happy Thoughts:

  1. And know that you are the kind of person that is enough.
You are the kind of person that isn't afraid.

The beginning of this was intriguing, and the ending hit home. Beautiful post ❤
